Lifestyle
One of the unique aspects of AIBL compared to other similar large prospective longitudinal studies of ageing and Alzheimer’s disease is the inclusion of a dedicated lifestyle research programme.
The primary aim of the lifestyle programme of AIBL is to examine lifestyle and dietary factors associated with healthy ageing and Alzheimer’s disease.
AIBL participants complete a series of questionnaires to examine their diet and exercise patterns, and sleep habits. Objective measures of physical activity and body composition are also obtained from a subset of the cohort using ActiGraph Uni-axial Accelerometers and Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DXA) scans respectively.
